The fictional side of the film, based on a novel by Ralf Herne and with draft scripts by 'Carl Foreman (I)' (qv) and 'Colin Welland' (qv), was never made, and the documentary footage is embargoed in a bankruptcy case in the USA. 'Jørgen Leth' (qv) describes these events in his 1994 book on the Tour de France, 'The Yellow Jersey in the High Mountains'.
